What is Literacy in Action?
Literacy in Action (LIA) is a non-profit organization serving the Eastern Townships (Estrie) region of Quebec. Our purpose is to offer skillbuilding opportunities for English-speaking adults and their families.
LIA works one-on-one with individuals who want support with their essential literacy skills. Reading, writing, math, communication, using technology, and working with others are all skills that allow us to explore and interact with the world and people around us.

We host activities in communities across the Estrie region that connect these skills to daily life.

All of our direct services and community activities are free.

LEARN
ONE-TO-ONE LEARNING
The core mandate of Literacy in Action is to empower adults (ages 16 and older) to strengthen their essential skills. Our primary method of doing this is working one-on-one with skillbuilders so their learning is customized to meet their needs.
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS & PROJECTS
LIA offers community programs and projects that provide opportunities for adults (and sometimes their families) to gather and share their stories, skills, and experiences as a network of learners.
FAMILY LITERACY PROGRAMS
Literacy in Action encourages adults and children to build their literacy skills through programs that engage the whole family in learning activities together.

PARTNER
The work that LIA does would not be possible without the help of individuals and organizations that we collaborate with.
